Geotest Ships Pulse Generators to U.S. Navy
Irvine, CA (April 16, 2003) - Geotest-Marvin Test Systems, Inc., a global supplier of electronic test equipment for aerospace, semiconductor, telecom, medical, industrial and military applications today began shipping the GP1552WR pulse generator to the U.S. Navy.
The Navy approached Geotest in late 2001 regarding an immediate obsolescence replacement requirement for a programmable pulse generator. Escalating maintenance and repair costs, coupled with long timeframes for their outdated Wavetek 859 equipment (NSN #6625-01-264-2280DQ), forced the Navy to seek alternative solutions. The contract for Geotest's GP1552WR (NSN #6625-01-494-1049) was awarded in fall, 2002. The U.S. Navy initially plans to use the GP1552WR in their AN/USM 484 testers, which are deployed worldwide in support of their F/A-18 aircraft.
The GP1552WR is a stand-alone, rackmountable GPIB pulse generator that is 100% form-fit-function compatible with the obsolete Wavetek 859, including the GPIB command set.
The Navy is also currently testing Geotest's GP1650 series of arbitrary waveform generators. The GP1650 series serve as direct replacements for the now-obsolete Wavetek 175 and Tektronix AWG5110s. Geotest also has orders from the U.S. Air Force for the GP1552HR, which is a 100% replacement for the obsolete HP8160A Pulse Generator. The GP155X series is also fully compatible with Tektronix's PG5110.
