Installing an I/O Module

The I/O modules have two opposing headers and two mounting holes. Headers and mounting holes match mating headers and stand offs on the DIO main board.

To mount an I/O Module, remove jackscrews from connectors J1 and J2 of the I/O module and then carefully insert the connectors to the appropriate cutouts in the front panel. Rotate the I/O module down to the main board and mate the two 80 pins headers. Install screws to the stand offs and jack screws to J1 and J2.

I/O Modules for GC5050 Domains

An I/O module is installed at the factory when the GC5050 is purchased. The GC5910 TTL I/O module is the default.

GC5050 boards require an I/O module daughter card for any UUT. The I/O modules provide drive current, termination and special functions, like non-TTL logic family signal level conversion.

General Installation Precautions and Methods

Warning

Caution - Turn off power before installing. Do not attempt to insert or remove any board into a powered host. Such action will void warranties.

The following general precautions should be observed:

2.    Turn off power and wait at least 30 seconds before installing.

3.    Unpack the board. Do not drop or handle it roughly. Hold it only by its edge (like a photo negative).

4.    Prepare and configure the board or card as specified in the following sections. Mount any daughter card on the host PCI board as required.

5.    Install the PCI board in an empty PCI slot. Do not force it. Make certain it is properly seated.
