GX5961 / GX5964 / GX5964A J7- Front Panel Power Connector

The following table shows the power connector, J7, pin out. VCC supplied should be in the range of 10V to 29V, and VEE in the range of –3V to -20V. The VCC voltage must be at least 3 volts above the drive high voltage level. E.g, for a +15 volt drive high level, the VCC rail must be at least +18 volts. Similarly, the VEE voltage must be at least 4 volts less than the drive low voltage level. E.g. for a -10 volt drive low level, the VEE voltage rail must be at least -14 volts. For high performance operation (i.e. high slew rate), each GX5961 card can consume up to +3 amps for the +18 volt and -14 volt rails. The GX5964 / GX5964A can consume up to +6 amps.

Pin 5 allows the user to power the 3.3 volt logic for the GX5961 / GX5964 from an external supply as well. However, it is not required that this voltage be supplied externally since the PXI backplane supplies this voltage rail. This option is provided if the PXI chassis does not have sufficient 3.3V current.

Minimum / Maximum Operating Conditions:

Minimum VCC and VEE span: 13 volts min.

     VCC min: 10 volts.

     VEE max: -3 volts.

     VCC max:  +29 volts.

     VEE min: -18 volts.

Warning: Absolute max between VCC and VEE is 32 volts.

J7 – GX5961 / GX5964 Front Panel Power Connector Pinout

The following Figure shows a typical connection to the Power connector:

GX5961/ GX5964 Typical Power Connection Diagram

Note: Ext. 3.3V (VDD) is supplied by the PXI backplane if the module is installed in GX7100-HP chassis. Under software control, the VDD power can be supplied via the J7 connector if the PXI chassis has insufficient 3.3V current.

Note: If the GX5961 / GX5964 is configured to operate in a GX7015 / GX7005 / GX7017 chassis, VDD power will be supplied via the PXI J5 backplane connector via a factory configured, jumper option.
