Architecture

The GX6188 architecture can represented by of (2) 8x8 matrices and a 104 x 8 matrix.  As shown in the figure below, the expansion bus allows users to create multiple high-density configurations such as 208x8x16, 312x8x24, 416x8x32, etc., without sacrificing the switching subsystem’s total I/O configuration for multiple module configurations. In addition, the module includes a resistor bleeder network as well as a self-test resource to facilitate built in test capability. The switching module also includes on-board circuitry for counting and recording the total number of relay closures, providing prognostic data for predicting relay life.

As shown in the figure below, the UUT 104 x 8 switch matrix is implemented as four 26x8 matrices to reduce stub length and the selector helps with facilitating this architecture.  Each section of the block diagram is shown in a different color and is described below.

The resource matrix is an 8x8 and connects any one of eight resources to any one of eight signals of the internal bus.

There are four 26x8 switch matrices. The matrices’ 8 columns are routed to the resource channels and the 26 rows are routed to the UUT channels.

The selector connects each signal of the internal bus to any one of the four UUT matrices or to the global bus. The selector can also connect the internal bus to a bleed resistor and/or to the built-in test (BIT) circuit. The figure below shows a logic schematic of the selector for one of the internal bus lines.
