Geotest Improves Design of Instrumentation Chassis
Irvine, CA (December 5, 2002) – Geotest-Marvin Test Systems, Inc., a global supplier of electronic test equipment for aerospace, semiconductors, telecom, medical, industrial and military applications, today announced design improvements to its PC/ISA instrumentation chassis used in automatic test systems (ATE), data acquisition and process control applications. The improvements include better interfacing mechanism as well as a new look that matches Geotest’s PXI Chassis families.
The GT7700B is the only platform in the world that can accommodate ISA, PCI and cPCI in a single chassis. It contains 4 PCI or cPCI slots and 8 ISA slots, and can be expanded to accommodate up to 38 PC cards using expansion chassis. The unique design of the GT7700B allows the instrumentation chassis to accept PC plug-in card from any vendor using carrier cards. The carrier card converts the top loading method of ordinary PCs into a front-loading one similar to PXI/VXI systems.
The GT7700B instrumentation chassis is provided with an embedded Pentium CPU controller, which includes a Pentium single-board-computer, floppy, hard disk, SVGA interface, two RS-232 ports, parallel port and a USB port. The GT7700B also provides three open slots for special I/O interfaces such as Ethernet, LAN, GPIB, MXI, or any other PCI/ISA card (one PCI, one ISA, and one shared PCI/ISA).
The GT7700B employs two power supplies. One supply provides power to the CPU module and PCI slots while the other provides power to the ISA section. Each section has its own On/Off switch, allowing the instrumentation to be powered-down while the computer is running.
