The AX-1553 series is a Compact PCI module designed to provide a MIL-STD-1553A/B interface for avionics applications. [1, 2] However, it is not recommended for new designs. [1] The module is available in 3U and 6U form factors. [1, 2] The 3U module supports up to four independent dual redundant MIL-STD-1553 databus streams, while the 6U module supports up to eight. [1, 2]

Coupling: Direct coupled and transformer coupled stubs available at the front panel connector. [1, 2]

Remote Terminal Simulation: Simulates up to 31 remote terminals, including all sub-addresses, concurrently with BC and Chronological Monitor operation. [2] Each RT can operate in passive receive-only mode. [2]
Chronological Bus Monitor: Full bus monitoring and analysis with time tagging of all bus traffic to 1 usec resolution. [1]
FPGA Architecture: High-performance FPGA-based hardware architecture with an embedded onboard PowerPC. [1, 2]
Memory: Two 128 MByte banks of onboard memory. [1, 2]
Software: Supplied with a Board Support Package (BSP) for Windows 2000/XP/ME, including an ATEasy driver, sample code, high-level C and C++ interface libraries, and documentation. [1] It also includes AIM-USA's MIL-STD-1553 Object Wrapper Layer (OWL) C and C++ interface library. [1]
The AX-1553 module is available in single or full function configurations. [2] Single function modules can consist of 31 monitor-only RTs, a Chronological Bus Monitor, a Bus Controller, or 31 Remote Terminal simulations. [2]
