Today’s armament maintainer must perform O-Level maintenance with multiple legacy test sets that greatly limit the ability to quickly and efficiently deploy with minimal footprint, verify armament system readiness, diagnose failures, and return the aircraft to full mission capable (FMC) status.

Maintainer Focused
Developed in conjunction with input from armament maintainers and munition manufacturers, the ergonomic design, rapid test times, and ease of use all contribute to the proven success of the globally deployed MTS-3060A SmartCan in real world, flightline armament test environments.  

The SmartCan’s functional performance allows the consolidation of multiple legacy test sets, further illustrating its ability to reduce the logistics and training burden that currently inhibits the USAF’s ability to most effectively and efficiently support the Multi-Capable Airmen and ACE initiatives.  

All Armament, All Platforms
Addressing an armament test gap that exists across legacy 4th and 5th generation aircraft equipped with “smart” weapon technology (MIL-STD-1760), the MTS-3060A enables support for any platform and any “smart” or legacy armament system.

Capable of testing all Alternate Mission Equipment (AME) and Aircraft Armament Equipment (AAE) including pylons, launchers, bomb racks, and pods, it is also capable of performing all pre-load and functional checkouts through weapons emulation.

Deployed across various aircraft - F-16, F-15, F/A-18, P-1, P-3, TA-50, FA-50, F-5, Hawk, RPA, AH-64, Air Defenses & more, its features ensure superior test and munitions emulation, while being one of the most cybersecure armament test sets in the industry.

Streamlined Setup and Test
Currently deployed on 14 platforms in 19 countries, and in use by the USAF as a smart weapons simulator for JDAM and AMRAAM, the SmartCan has repeatedly demonstrated significant reductions in field setup and test execution times.

F-16 test setup saw staggering reductions—from 45 minutes to just 4 minutes (91% reduction), with similar reductions in test execution times for a MIL-STD-1760 pylon – from 20 to 3 minutes (85% reduction).

Cybersecure
Extensive cybersecurity features, both hardware and software, make this the most cyber secure O-Level test set available. The removable SD card is the only memory available; when removed, the SmartCan is effectively sanitized and contains no TPS code or saved test data.  External system access from other interfaces, such as USB drives, is not available.  

The ATEasy Test Executive and Development Environment, utilized for TPS development, is designed to comply with DOD Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements including access control, user privileges, DLL encryption, data encryption, as well as other safeguards to ensure a secure, reliable operating platform from the development environment to the flightline.  

Improved Logistics
The logistics footprint, training and support requirements are also substantially reduced thanks to intuitive menu driven operation, a sunlight readable display, and single case transport that includes all cables and adapters.   It is powered by (6) standard or rechargeable AA batteries, and incorporates an innovative power management system that allows operation of the SmartCan for over 40 hours, without the need to replace or recharge the batteries.  

Additionally, the SmartCan has a 4-year calibration cycle and proven reliability in the field resulting in very high availability rates.
